The Ways of the Wind

It seems as though everything in my life is shifting in some ways it is very slow and I can see the change coming from a long way off. In other cases I feel as if suddenly the rug was pulled out from under me or I was moved by a strong force.

I have a new laptop on the way that I am very excited about and thankful to my parents for buying me. I am so sorry the electronic gods don't seem to like me much right now. However I am hopeful that this means my string of bad luck with laptops is over!

Also I didn't receive the residency in Portland, however I am almost relieved because it was going to conflict with school, a job I wanted to apply for, moving into a new apartment etc

as well as the fact as to I'm still trying to figure out my own voice and my own viewpoint in my choreography and I don't want to put something out there I'm not 100% proud of. So I am going to keep working and keep choreographing and learning from life. I have A LOT of life left to live and not getting the position is just fine. I can apply again and again and again. It's just not my time quite yet

Internet

ok so my internet at home hasn't been working on my computer for almost 2 weeks now so there hasn't been any postings sorry!

however I have been working on an application for Pretty Creatives Project for Northwest Dance Project for a 6 day residency this summer to set a piece on a group of dancers participating in the Launch 4 summer program.

I will find out by April 16th whether I got it or not and I will keep you updated as well.

The Intimacy Chronicles: Under Over Through

The latest section of The Intimacy Chronicles I filmed this during Finals week while the Calpoly studio was free. I have been working on a few of these phrases for a while and a few I made up while there. The music I stumbled upon was super inspiring and wonderful. It is by The Knife in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock. it is 11 mins of wonderfulness.

I had a lot of fun playing with this material, it was a good release after finishing my last final.

The Coolest Cat I Know

I met Laura Peterson the summer of 2007 at the first ever Balance Dance Co summer intensive. She rocked my world to say the least. She is the most amazing dancer and choreographer with a style all her own. She is a modern day dance rock star. She has created pieces to music by Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Lumberob, and many more. She works a lot by recording improvs and then taking movement from them and creating dances.

Here is an improv she did at MoMA last month.
